Caption: Hello, Nathan!
Nathan, Senior Category Manager, Raw Materials: Hi, I’m Nathan. I buy the ingredients that go into our bars and today we’re talking about our newest RXBAR, Vanilla Almond.
Caption: Why did we create this flavor?
Nathan, Senior Category Manager, Raw Materials: Vanilla Almond Butter has been a massive success. It’s by far our most popular RX Nut Butter and we wanted to put that same flavor in another format for our customers to enjoy. Also, vanilla is the most popular flavor in the world.
Caption: What makes this flavor stand out?
Nathan, Senior Category Manager, Raw Materials: I think this flavor stands out because it tastes a little bit different to everyone who tastes it. We’ve heard graham cracker, cookies dough, I think it tastes like just like a vanilla birthday cake. But whoever’s eating it, I think everyone thinks it’s delicious.
Caption: Vanilla Almond RXBAR uses vanilla bean, but not vanilla extract. Why’s that?
Nathan, Senior Category Manager, Raw Materials: We don’t use vanilla extract because we found that the interaction of the extract with our other ingredients leads to some off-putting flavors and doesn’t age particularly well, so we use vanilla bean. We found that it’s a much better fir for our products.
Caption: Some people consider vanilla basic, what do you think?
Nathan, Senior Category Manager, Raw Materials: Considering that it’s really hard to produce, has a really cool history, tastes delicious, and is the second most expensive spice in the world, I think vanilla is anything but basic.
